At Pomona Dental Care, we offer various dental technologies which can restore, strengthen, and beautify your teeth, including dental bridges. If you have questions about dental bridges or wonder how they may help you, we hope you’ll reach out to us to schedule an appointment. We’ll answer all your questions during our consultation, perform an evaluation, and provide some recommendations. There is a lot of great information to know, and the more you learn about bridges, the more excited you may feel to get started.
Dental Bridges Provide a Good Way to Replace Missing Teeth
If you’re missing teeth or need to have any extracted, a bridge can replace them. It can also maintain your facial shape and relieve biting tension.
It fills the space left behind by a missing tooth, and looks, feels, and functions just like natural teeth. It usually consists of three prosthetic teeth, two of which we cement over the neighboring, supporting teeth. The middle one “bridges” the missing tooth gap.
Your jawbone can deteriorate, and some facial muscles can weaken if you have missing teeth. Your face may appear “saggy” as a result of this. A bridge strengthens the teeth adjacent to a gap, preventing tooth loosening and facial muscle weakness, which can improve your appearance.
Bridges have a few minor disadvantages, such as their potential to loosen. They are, however, constructed and installed in such a way that they are long-lasting and durable. Just try to be careful about what you bite into. Even if you don’t have a bridge, you should slowly chew when eating popcorn, hard candy, etc.
If your bridge ever requires repair, just let us know, and we’ll take care of it quickly and comfortably.
Cleaning a bridge is also more complex than cleaning natural teeth. There is no natural spacing between the artificial teeth in a bridge because it comprises three artificial teeth in a row. Flossing will be impossible between them. But you can still clean around them and clean the rest of your teeth as usual.
A bridge also requires the preparation and forming of the natural teeth that support it, even if they are in good shape. Teeth in good health should ideally be left alone; however, a bridge can add more benefit than a drawback, and we wouldn’t perform any procedure which we would not recommend.
Bridges have the benefit of being a quick and effective dental solution. We can install a bridge in as little as a few hours, but the entire procedure may take several appointments to allow you and your teeth and mouth to recover after each treatment.
How Much Do Dental Bridges Cost?
Treatment varies for each patient, as each patient has unique dental needs, dental structure, and dental goals. Therefore, costs may vary as well.
We pride ourselves on encouraging patients to receive our quality dental care by offering competitive, affordable service. We’d encourage you to reach out to us if you have any questions about your treatment options or the associated costs.
